We welcome every Westie without regard to health, behavior or temperament. Their harsh double coat, especially the hard, straight outer coat, helped to provide protection from the elements. Their short legs aided in maneuverability in different types of terrain. We provide rescue, fostering, medical, and adoption services for abused, abandoned, neglected and/or homeless West Highland White Terriers (“Westies”). 15-21 lb height 10-11' family Terrier The West Highland White Terrier is generally compact and short. We operate under 501(c)3 of Westie Rescue of the MidAtlantic States, Inc. Sunshine State Westie Rescue (SSWR) is a relatively new entity of Westie Rescue USA and is staffed with all volunteers who offer their time and efforts to find, rescue, rehabilitate, and then re-home Westies who need a second chance at a great new life. Every Westie who comes into our program receives the medical care they may need, volunteers foster each dog as long as necessary for the well-being of the dog, then when they are healthy, happy and ready for their own family, we are committed to finding the best home possible for each and every one of the Westies in our care SSWR is focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual re-homing of Westies in need of help. SSWR is a 501(c)(3) not for profit, completely run volunteer organization committed to helping any Florida Westie in need.
